The Everett Philharmonic Led by Dr. Paul-Elliott Cobbs Opens Its Third Season Who: Dr. Paul-Elliott Cobbs & the Everett Philharmonic Orchestra What: Third Season Premiere Concert When: Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 7:00 PM Where: Everett Performing Arts Center • 2710 Wetmore Ave • Everett Music Director Dr. Paul-Elliott Cobbs presents the third season of the Everett Philharmonic. The orchestra will perform its opening concert of the 2012-13 season at 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 6 in the Everett Performing Arts Center. Entitled "A Night in Madrid," this exotic program features the fervent music of romantic Spain. It opens with Manuel de Falla’s "Jota" from The Three Cornered Hat, a work selected by our Spring Fling auction winner, Lou Davis. Emmanuel Chabrier’s España will next enchant the audience with its shadowy harmonies and gleaming melodies. Then internationally-acclaimed guitarist, Michael Partington will take center stage as he joins the Everett Philharmonic for Joaquin Rodrigo’s breathtaking Concierto de Aranjuez for Guitar and Orchestra. Mr. Partington has performed with numerous orchestras throughout the world and is a gifted guitar professor at the University of Washington. Capriccio Espagnol by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov will provide a spine-tingling finale to the evening. This work’s brilliant orchestration and virtuosic solos will rouse the orchestra and audience alike. Before the show, at 5:30 PM in the Reception Hall, the Kick-Off party offers the chance to enjoy the company of your musical family while enjoying appetizers and beverages. Immediately following the reception, Dr. Cobbs will invite the audience to attend his informal and informative Stage-side Chat. Dr. Cobbs will share insights and anecdotes connected with the evening’s composers and works. As it embarks on its third season, the EPO boasts a roster of 85 enthusiastic, professional-level musicians. Two successful seasons have paved the way for an incredible future. Excitement continues to mount as the orchestra prepares to share more amazing music with audiences throughout the region. The Everett Philharmonic Orchestra’s third season includes performances in November, February, April and May. Visit the EPO website at www.everettphil.org or call (206) 270-9729 for tickets. Tickets are affordably priced at $25 for adults, $20 for students and seniors. Family discount pricing is available for the November family concert and discounts are also available for groups of 10 or more. Festival Seating—so come early. Doors open at 5:15 pm.
