Looking for information or help?  Your first step should probably be to dial 2-1-1.  That will connect you to the Washington Information Network, which maintains a large database of providers offering help with health, human services and finance.  Learn more about 2-1-1 here.
 

United Way's Help for Hard Times

The United Way has put together an excellent site called Help For Hard Times at http://www.uwsc.org/get_help.php.  It is well laid out, informative, and very rich with links to services of all kinds: job retraining, unemployment benefits, help with rent, food and utility assistance.

Regional Public Information Network

The Regional Public Information Network (http://www.rpin.org/) belongs to local and regional governments, utilities, transportation, health and emergency response agencies, etc.  It contains a mix of breaking news and alerts (such as traffic conditions and road closures) with links to resources like health quality organizations.


Travel and Traffic information

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Puget Sound Traffic map is located at: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/seattle/  The DOT also runs a winter travel advisory site at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/winter/

 

Food Help
