2011 Candidates for Positions on the KSER Foundation Board of Directors

The following candidates are each running for open seats (as indicated) on the KSER Foundation Board of Directors. Positions 12 -18 are unfilled or being vacated. Candidates are running unopposed.

Hayden BixbyOccupation: Tenured English Faculty, Edmonds Community College
Residence: Kenmore, WA
On Public Radio: Community radio is a vital component of a society that values diversity of opinion and informed citizens.
Board / Community Experience: I am in my fifth term as a board member for a family-owned business based in Billings, Montana, and I serve as a founding member of the Advisory Committee for Cura Orphanage, a home in Kenya for 50 children who lost their parents to AIDS. Throughout my years at the college, I have served on policy-making and oversight committees, as well as on the executive council for the faculty union. I am a graduate of the Leadership Snohomish County class of 2011.

On Public Radio: Community Radio provides a variable
platform for a community to come together in sharing
stories and ideas. Only when we share our stories and
ideas openly, can we learn and grow together. By
working together, we can make this a better place to live.
Board / Community Experience: Alumni of Leadership Snohomish County Class of 2010-11. Past Treasurer of Paddle Trails Canoe Club, volunteered at Sunrise Senior Living in Snohomish, and City of Everett Animal Shelter.

Joe VojeOccupation: Information Security Professional, Retired Naval Officer
Residence: Everett, WA
On Public Radio: Although the residents of North Puget Sound have many choices for radio and television news and entertainment, none, save KSER, delivers news and entertainment driven by the local community – news and entertainment that speaks specifically to our experience. With the mass assimilation of news and entertainment outlets, the need for local public radio is more important than ever. Our community needs to have this essential resource to preserve the local democratic process, provide the opportunity for all views to be heard and debate what is important in our part of the world.
